Performance Specs

Our Honda GT 270cc gas-powered karts are the ultimate racing karts for getting that adrenaline rush on our outdoor karting track. These race-ready karts are perfect for testing or building your skills as you challenge your friends, family, or colleagues to a battle for first place on our outdoor karting track.

Our go-karts take driving back to the basics, focusing on the driver’s skill and vehicle control. Manual steering and no ABS give you a true ‘feel’ for your kart, as you tear around the karting track just a few inches from the tarmac at speeds of up to 50mph!

Driver Requirements

Drivers must be:
– Minimum Height: 48-inches
– Minimum Age: 12
– Maximum Weight: 300lbs

Driver Safety:

– All drivers must sign a waiver (If you are under 18, a parent, legal guardian or adult over the age of 18 must complete the waiver for you)

– All drivers must be present for a kart and track orientation prior to driving

– All drivers must wear helmets (Helmets are provided with rental)

– Flat, closed toe shoes

– No loose clothing

– Long hair should be tied back

I attended the 4-day GT Road Racing course in July and had an incredible time. I have a life-long love of cars and driving but limited experience on a track aside from a few open lapping days, and I’ve always wanted to learn more about track driving. The entire team at Radford did a great job creating a high-end experience where we could learn new skills, push ourselves to progress behind the wheel, and have a ton of fun doing it. Spencer was our main instructor and he was fantastic – he provided straightforward and clear instruction while keeping things low-pressure yet still extremely exciting. 4 days is intense but if you have the time, interest, and stamina, I strongly recommend going for it; it was profoundly enjoyable to feel my confidence grow and things really start to come together in the latter part of the course. Overall an amazing experience and I can't wait to get back there.

Just finished the two day drag strip course with Radford what an experience can't say enough about the Crew and all the information that I got in over those two days I ended up with a 9/ second quarter mile and certification the Dodge demon 170 thank you Radford for all your information and experience. I will forever remember this course. Also was able to get my NHRA certification for competition license thanks again

my 16 year old daughter was there april 21,22,23 2025 for the advanced teen course... fist off everyone there is super nice.. never have i had things so easy and fast at check in. i was amazed.at this time my daughter has only been driving 4 months with her learners permit where she can only drive with a licensed driver with her. so very little experience.on day one after a short class room session they go out and pic their cars (all hellcat challengers). up to this point she has really only been driving subaru imprezas so a hellcat is a huge jump up. i figure they were gonna have an instructor with her and all but to my surprise they put her in that hellcat by herself right off the bat.. i'm thinking to myself that they are nuts..lol..they also put her out there with 5 other guys that have much more driving experience. boy i was i wrong.:).. i was worried that it would make her nervous or hold the other guys up. they started with advoidance, hard braking and steering then to a slalom course. by the end of the day you could see how much more under control she was at faster speeds.. i was amazed and this was day 1 of three days..being she was the only one in the teen course those three days she pretty much got 1 on 1 instruction. her instructor Les was great with her and you could really see that she was comfortable with him. he constantly pushed her out of her comfort zone. by day three i couldn't believe she was the one behind the wheel.. she was cruising around the various tracks much smoother and faster then day 1.anyone considering this course, do it.. its not cheap but once you see what they teach and what they do on those tracks with those cars you'll understand the cost much more..when we got back home my daughter got behind the wheel and its like an entirely different driver. so much more cofident and decisive while driving.. you can see how she looks ahead now instead of just to the edge of the hood, turns are smoother ,its just incredible... in three days she got more useful driving experience then we could have given her in years..i just can't say enough good things about this place. i thank Les for being great with my daughter and really pushing her. its much appreciated. i feel much more comfortable with her knowlege behind the wheel now..

This is my second time to the Radford Racing school, and it never ceases to impress. The instructors are hands on the entire time and are incredibly both knowledgeable and skilled. The amount of opportunity/time you have to drive “seat time” is truly second to none. I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about learning to drive or what’s to become a better driver. Had a great experience at Radford! If you love fast cars, this is the place for you! The instructors we had were Danny and Kaden and they were both awesome. We spent some time doing a relay race doing a cone drill, then moved on to driving the Hellcats on the track, then we did some autocross time trials and finally got to get out on the track with the instructors driving which was a blast! I can't wait to come back!

Just completed the 3 day high performance class. What a fantastic experience! The staff was terrific, Kristy, BJ, Spencer. As the owner of a Hellcat, this course really showed me what it can really do. Also, I need help with the brakes on my own car and they worked with me. Definitely going back to take another class!

Had an amazing time here. During the summer be prepared for a very hot day. stay very hydrated i would suggest bringing a small towel with you and a large bottle of ice water perhaps even an umbrella to keep the sun off of you at certain stations. enjoy 🙂

My Son and I took the SRT Performance Driving Course. It was AMAZING. It was more of a Driving Experience...It Began with a sort of class room Listen, and Learn which took about 45 min- 1hr. Then it was out to the Cars. You spend the rest of the day at these little Satellite stations out doors with the instructors learn different aspects of Driving. So they Teach, and You Do. Over and Over throughout the Day. The Entire Time Absorbing More, and More Knowledge along the Way while Smiling as You are Ripping the cars around on the Different Courses. It is a Full Day of Driving Excitement while you are applying what You've learned.These Instructors are Extremely Skilled, Friendly, and Educated.Go and Take the Driving Experience You will Not be Disappointed.

Attended the High Performance Driving program that is offered for purchasing a Hellcat/Demon. Added additional days for 3 days of education. Extremely educational and fun! Learned accident avoidance; skid control; braking, cornering and acceleration; and confidence in handling the car. I added my daughter to this experience, and we both had a blast and learned great skills. I would highly recommend Radford; it was worth every penny!!!

This place is amazing! I took the 3 day High Performance Driving class; I'd highly recommend this class for any driver. You'll learn things like accident avoidance, proper braking, what taking a corner should really look like, etc. And you'll get some lead/follow track time. I just finished the 3 day HPD course and it was a spectacular experience on so many levels. First, start with the staff. All the instructors are highly experienced; passionate in what they do; patient; and overall just good guys. I worked with Zach and BJ and they are just so knowledgeable and you can feel they love what they do. I have a special shout out to Christine who keeps things running there. She helped me with a helmet issue, got creative, and I was off learning and having fun at the same time. The course is tough physically and mentally but I guarantee you will have an experience of a lifetime, have fun and walk away a better driver no matter what wheels you pilot. The fact that all the cars are SRT Challengers was a bonus for me as I have 3 SRT vehicles and what I learned will clearly keep me sharp and allow me to use the driving skills I learned taking the course. If you are a car person or not even a car nut like me and want the thrill of a lifetime while learning important driving skills, give them a chance to prove what all the great reviews say about them and the experience.

I was at Radford the 2-Day HPD course and it was absolutely worth it! My background prior to this was mostly in karting but the HPD course really turned out to be the right choice as a "next step" for my progression.The instructional staff's experience really showed in each of the exercises' demo runs before we did our own driving. Getting the chance to learn and train in a Hellcat made the jump from karting to cars an intense but valuable learning experience.From the skid car to the lead-follow sessions, I got everything I could've hoped for out my first time attending a racing school (even if I did knock out a cone or two in the process + I was the slower driver among my classmates in the autocross sessions).I even had the chance to talk with the sales and admin staff at the front desk after the program ended to get more guidance on how to keep going forward in my racing endeavours (it's clear that everyone who works for Radford has a love for cars and racing so there's never a "wrong" person to talk to for advice).If anyone reading this is looking for a racing school to attend for refining driving skills or expand your racing abilities, I can definitely say that Radford is the right one to go with.

I just finished the 4-day GT Road Racing Course, and it was incredible! If you're considering a class at Radford, I'm telling you—just do it. It's a life experience you won't regret.Initially, I was apprehensive because I had ZERO racing experience. I almost talked myself out of it, thinking it might not be fun, too challenging, or too hot in July. I'm so glad I didn't let those thoughts stop me from this rewarding experience.From the moment I arrived, my instructors, put me at ease. The progression from traction and speed control to proper braking pressure and accident avoidance was perfect for making me feel comfortable. Practice on the skid car and autocross course prepared me well for the race course. And it was fun!Rob’s expert instruction was a game changer. The pride all the employees of Radford have is very special. I can't recommend this experience enough.Oh- and the cars are well air conditioned too!

ust got back from my 4 day Radford Racing School. I wish that there was such a thing as a 6 star review because if there was I would give it.From the first minute I contacted Radford every aspect of the process was easy to navigate, well organized and thoughtfully designed.The Course : I have seen other racing training programs and to be honest most really are more of a "let's give someone an experience of being in a fast car on a track" . There's typically some classroom discussion, some materials handed out and then the students are strapped into fast cars and sent out on the track. After a couple of hours they are given a t-shirt and a graduation certificate/photo of them in the car and sent on their way.This is NOT the Radford approach ... they start the students with basic exercises that demonstrate how a vehicle handles, why tires grip and how to use the Physics and Tires to make a car do what you want it do. From this ground up approach the students then are able to put the theories into practice through a series of drills. These drills , when strung together, give the student once they go out onto the track the basic skills to begin to understand how a car can be made to handle so it does do what a race car is supposed to do. As I have learned this is so much more than just trying to "DRIVE FAST" on a windy road.The Facility : It's first rate. It's a campus not merely a couple of buildings set on the edge of a race track. The cars...perfect..not a ding, scratch and expertly maintained. The offices and classrooms comfortable, modern and first class.The People : Again...unparalleled. I was fortunate enough to have the majority of my training with the Chief Instructor ..Danny. What a superstar.Knowledgable, thoughtful, funny and able to communicate abstract concepts in a comprehensible fashion. Led by Danny the emphasis with every student always is on safety, building on your skills , giving the student confidence to progress and making sure that the experience is the best possible. Note: You can often judge a business by their employees and their length of service within the organization. Every Instructor I met had been with the school for many years. However every Instructor was enthusiastic, excited about sharing their knowledge and loved teaching.When I left the school after 4 days I really felt not only that I had learned more than I ever thought I could but as if I was leaving a group of friends who had made time to give me one of the coolest experiences of my life.I am already planning to coming back for more schooling in one of the advanced classes and have contacted two friends recommending the school.In conclusion all I can end with is "Thank you to everyone at Radford."

Attended the 4 day GT Road Racing course - what an experience! The class was composed of mixed ages (15-60+) and experience (I was the novice - lots of autocross and racing enthusiasts). The instructors (Will, William and BJ) are top notch and met everyone where they were, provided great skill training and in-car instruction, and made sure everyone advanced their skills. They know their stuff and are willing to share. I can't recommend highly enough - if you are interested, stop right now, pull up the website and register for a class. You will not be disappointed. Karting – FAQs

For our gas go karting experiences we require that all drivers are a minimum of 4 feet tall and at least 12 years old, with a maximum weight of 300 lbs. Drivers must also sign a waiver, be present for the kart and track orientation, wear helmets (provided with rental), wear flat, closed toe shoes, avoid loose clothing and long hair must be tied back.

Radford kart racing experiences allow drivers to test their racing skills on our dedicated outdoor karting track. The half-mile, 15-turn track features elevation changes, high-speed corners, and state-of-the-art timing and scoring for the ultimate karting race day events.

Gas karting experiences are capped at 12 students to ensure students receive proper and detailed instruction.

Regular hours are 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (October – May). Summer hours are 7:00 am – 2:30 pm (June – September).

Students will need an SA2020 or higher-rated helmet. Helmets can be bought in our pro shop for $229 or rented for just $25 a day. Students will also need closed-toed shoes, driving shoes are preferred.

Yes, students who successfully complete the karting session will receive a certificate of completion.

How Does Go Karting Work At Radford?

Go-karting opens up the world of racing to younger generations of race enthusiasts. Our go-karting track is open to all participants aged 12+ with full protective equipment and a comprehensive briefing provided.

Getting Kitted Up

All participants are required to wear the provided kit during all race sessions. Go-karting equipment consists of a go-kart race suit, gloves, and a helmet.

Racers should wear appropriate footwear on the day of their karting session, these should be comfortable, closed-toe shoes that cover your entire foot and have good grip.

Briefing

Before any of our karting sessions, a full briefing is provided by one of our team. Participants must attend their session briefing in order to race on our outdoor karting track.

During the briefing, we will cover the flags you will expect to see on the track, marshaller signals, track conditions, how our karts work, and any other information that is pertinent to your karting experience.

Karting Sessions

Before your karting session starts you will be assigned a kart number, this number will correspond to your track times after the race. Our outdoor go-karting track automatically registers track times – the fastest lap time gets pole position.

Our 1-hour go-karting events are split into two blocks to give racers a chance to refresh and reflect between races.

Debrief

After your karting sessions, head over to our debriefing to find out the results of your session. Don’t forget you will also have access to discounted Instructor lead and follow, Autocross, Hot laps, Team slalom, Accident avoidance, and Skid car experiences.

Karting Health & Safety

Please note that all drivers will be required to adhere to our safety guidelines, advice, and standards at all times both on and off the the karting track. Failure to comply may result in removal from the karting session and possible exclusion from future racing activities.
